Access to 4690 files from other applications and devices
SEAMLESS ACCESS AND INTEGRATION
Data access is the core of what RIO provides. Do you want to add a gift registry kiosk to your store environment? RIO can give you the ability to perform item lookups directly from the new application. Do you want to create a new report and access it from a browser on your desktop? RIO can pull data from any file on the 4690 system. New procedures involving processing or maintenance of 4690 data can be implemented. Existing 4690 file-based procedures can be simplified and improved.
Not only can 4690 data be accessed by other applications, but it can also be accessed from anywhere. With RIO, you can implement new applications on other systems in the store which can be run on kiosks, laptops, PC workstations, tablet PCs, or handhelds. Any wired or wireless networked device can utilize RIO. Now you can access store report data from the enterprise levelor empower a district manager by giving them access to store data while in the field.
HOW IT WORKS.
RIO provides open access to data residing on your 4690 system. Unlike other solutions, RIO shifts the responsibility for handling the 4690 files back to the controller. This approach means that the client accessing the data can be almost any combination of hardware, operating system, and client software.
All of the native 4690 file capabilities are supported. With RIO you can Create, Open, Read, Write, Close, and Delete any of the 4690 file types including Keyed, Direct, and Sequential. This includes POS files as well as non-POS files. And because RIO operates the way a 4690 controller does, you can do all of this without risking system lockups or inhibiting other store processes.
