4690World has developed an integrated fuel solution for the Dresser Wayne IX Dispenser line which allows IBM 4690 retailers the ability to integrate fuel into their stores.
Developed to integrate fuel pumps seamlessly into an existing 4690 installation, the 4690World Fuel Pump Solution (FPS) offers the ability for retailers to install the Dresser Wayne pumps into their existing stores and run the pumps from the 4690 Store System. No additional (or new) hardware is required to control the Dresser Wayne pumps.
The benefits of the 4690World FPS:
- Seamless integration with IBM’s StorePay payment system (other payment systems can easily be supported as well)
- Seamless integration with the 4690 Transaction Log (sales data)
- Easily change pump prices by changing the price of an item (fuel item) in the Item Record File
- Control pumps from any existing register within a retailers store. (Pump control does not require any “special “or additional hardware). A GUI pump interface is planned for release in Q1 2007.
- Runs on the existing 4690 Store Controller (requires OS 4690 V3) saving additional hardware expense.
- Fast and reliable
- Scalable (can handle from 1-32 pumps or more potentially)
- Design provides for future extension and expansion of the products capabilities. In fact, users can extend and enhance the FPS system and even gain access to the pump messages.
Managing the Pumps:
The FPS system was developed to seamlessly interface the Dresser Wayne IX Fuel controllers into the POS System.
To this end, the FPS system allows retailers to “control” the pumps at any register (code must be added to your terminal sales):
- Register for alerts from the pumps (notification of outdoor activity at the pumps)
- Open the pumps
- Close the pumps
- Void or remove a drive off transaction
- Report pay inside transactions
- Receipt reprint (re-print a receipt from an outside sale)
FPS supports both pay outside as well as pay inside transactions. Prepay support will be added in a future release.
FPS supports all payment types supported by the Dresser Wayne IX Fuel Controller and additional supports customer Loyalty lookup.
With customer loyalty, the retailer has the ability to define a per gallon discount to be applied to customer loyalty transactions.
4690World is planning a GUI Fuel control interface with planned availability in Q1 2007. The GUI Fuel Control will integrate with retailers existing 4690 implementations.
FPS Specifics:
The Fuel Pump Solution is comprised of two major components, a terminal or register component and a Controller or Server component.
The register component consist of a set of object code which is linked into the existing terminal application. The register code will communicate with the Fuel Server running on the controller.
The Controller component consists of a background application which is the Fuel Server. The Fuel Server is a 100% Pure Java Application which can be run as a background application.
The Fuel Server maintains the connections to the pumps and provides a bridge between the registers and the pumps and is the interface between the pump and the 4690 POS System.
All pump communications flows through the fuel server.
A 4690 Menu Program is also provided which presents an interface to allow store personnel to change the fuel prices from the controller.
